Gardmore Abbey

The Gardbury Downs take their name from this striking ruin, a large monastery that has lain in ruins for almost one hundred and fifty years. The abbey was dedicated to Bahamut and served as the base of a militant order of paladins who won great fame fighting in Nerath’s distant crusades. As the story goes, the paladins brought a dark artifact back from a far crusade for safekeeping, and evil forces gathered to assault the abbey and take it back. Rumour tells of dungeons lying beneath the ruins, which might still conceal the hoarded wealth of the old crusading paladins…

A party of adventurers recently braved the dangers of Gardmore Abbey in search of the lost sword of the Markelhay family of Fallcrest. Though reluctant to work together, the dwarves Baern and Thoradin accompanied the elf Vadran into the dungeon beneath the abbey. Inside, they overcame a group of bandits that were using the ruins as a hideout.

In a sealed crypt in the dungeon they recovered the enchanted sword from the body of the former Lord Markelhay – only to be ambushed by an army of skeletal undead. Set upon from all sides, the adventurers looked to be in trouble – until Thoradin let loose a blast of divine energy, destroying most of the skeletons.
